PTO Meeting Minutes

Meeting called to order at
Treasurer’s Report: Sharon Hamlin motioned to approve and Paula Hansen seconded; approved.
Treasurer’s Books Audit: Committee members: Paula Hansen, Amy Smothers, and Darin Noonan.
Secretary’s Report: Correspondence was read. Judy Hoffman motioned to approve minutes and Eileen Peterson seconded; approved.
Administrator’s Report: Trip to Mission Springs is going well. Mrs. Kropp expressed her appreciation for support for students to attend Mission Springs trip. Mandarin sales will be October 15- November 15; money to help with Mission Springs scholarships. Mrs. Kropp also talked about the Parent Forum. The five areas of the forum are: Community, Safety, Student Behavior and Expectations, Academic Expectations, and Achievement Gaps.
Estelle Elementary: Teachers are starting pen pal letters. Estelle principal and Mrs. Kropp are also corresponding.
Walk to School Day: This will be our sixth annual WTS Day. Many businesses in the community are participating. Laguna Creek and Harriet Eddy will be a part of the morning also. Discussed the possibility of adding Walk to School Day Committee to PTO committees.
Fundraisers: Entertainment Books: profit of about
50%. Profit goes down because we don’t
get all the books back or books are missing cards. Kudos to Jane Ross for all her hard work with
this fundraiser this year!
See’s Candy: Paula Hansen is heading this up.
A track sales will be October 15-26; B,C,D tracks November 5-16.
Track: Possible ideas to help fund: eat out nights at area restaurants, magazine sales, walk a thon. After the next School Site Council meeting, we can reprioritize.
Crab Feed: Eileen Peterson and committee have sent out letters to parents giving information and requesting volunteers. They are already getting sponsors and donations for the event. Ticket sales begin in early December. They are using the same caterer and DJ and are adding a new “Super Ticket.”
Four Square Courts: Parents have asked about getting new courts on the playground. The playground will receive a seal coat soon; done by the district. We will postpone creating any new four square courts until the spring, possibly have someone use temporary chalk spray.
Committee Updates: Membership is down. Donna will send out another form. Discussed acknowledging members in the newsletter.
Family Nights: Dee Moretti: B Street Theatre; Movie Night: Maureen Long; Sock Hop: Mari Rodriguez; Mark Peterson: Science Night; Bo Carson: Movie Night
