Meeting was called to order at
Nominations: Terri Briggs was nominated for Fundraising Director. It was motioned by Sutter, seconded by Hoffman, and approved.
Updates on Committees: Jane Ross discussed the Entertainment Books fundraiser. She stated that she had challenges with the vendor and smooth assistance from the office staff. The top seller sold eleven books. She is still trying to get rewards from the vendor. Next year Jane would suggest using the same vendor but a different rep.
Terri Briggs had a very positive experience with the gift wrap and cookie dough sales. Leadership helped deliver the gift wrap and the cookie dough delivery is scheduled for 11/7.
Administrator Report: Mrs. Kropp discussed the school’s philosophy and described the team: teachers, school site council (elected parents and teachers), and PTO. The three groups work together. The school has a general fund and categorical block grant from the state which can be used for things such as GATE, ESL, and school improvement. We have to wait for allocations from the state. The PTO budget is more flexible. We can use block grant money for PE, Art Docent, and drama and choir scholarships. This can free up PTO funding that has been used for these things in the past. There is open attendance to all School Site Council meetings.
A fifth grade class is working to make changes that will allow the school to use funding for the track. They are looking at current policies, have a representative to address the School Site Council, and are working on changing the legislation.
President Report: Bill Briggs went over the structure and organization of the current PTO. He also stated that there is a drop in membership and we need to solicit a vice president.

Sally Eversole said that the shelves for the library are ready and she’s trying to get them into the library as soon as possible. She also wanted to express her thanks for all the AR quizzes that have been purchased.
PTO taxes need to be done next week. $50 gift certificate will come from board expenses to the individual helping with this.
Student Leadership: about 150 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are involved. Each grade level has different responsibilities. 4th graders are participating in a “Don’t Laugh at Me” training and then they will give presentations to classes. This is a program that helps students accept and acknowledge differences. 5th graders are responsible for the recycling. There will be a leadership camp that is an event with the LCHS leadership. They have new student leadership t-shirts. Coats for Kids is coming up.
Box Top: Last year leadership kids took the lead on this and took over the responsibility. In the past it fell under Free Money. Leadership kids are managing the money and making decisions on how the money will be spent.
LC Parent Forum: November 14
Two 6th grade students have recently lost their parents. PTO would like to help these families. Jackie Biasotti and Jane Ross are going to get information and develop a proposal for what we might do for them.
